Okay, so I know it’s been a while
since I’ve posted and I know that I’m even later on my New Years post, so I’m
sorry for that. Hopefully, this long post will make up for it! 2013 definitely
got the best of me and I’m not sorry to say goodbye and welcome 2014 with wide-open arms.
A couple of highlights from my
final moments of 2013: I bought myself a new Iphone (this was a very big deal
considering my Iphone was probably about four years old). I ended the semester
with a 3.90, which allowed me to maintain my GPA from last year. I got all of
my Christmas shopping done on time for once (yay!).
Okay, so now onto New Years. For
starters: Happy New Year, everyone! May 2014 bring you the best!
So for this blog post today, I’ve
decided to explore common New Years stereotypes. I think everyone is pretty
familiar with “New Year, New Me” so I’m going to start with that. I’ve decided
to completely disregard that saying this year. For the years past, I’ve made
resolutions that included losing weight or working out or something that
involves changing me. Well, no more.
This year I’ve decided to take a new resolution path and give myself concrete
things to accomplish.
So here are my resolutions:
1.
Get an internship. I’m now a junior in college
about to start my second semester and I work my butt off. I’m a member of six
clubs, a division 1 athlete, an honor student, and I have two jobs. It’s about
time that I apply myself in the real world.
2.
Do one nice thing for someone each day. I’m
trying to promote random acts of kindness.
3.
Smile at strangers. You never know how a smile
could change someone’s day.
4.
Work at an animal shelter. I’m such a sucker for
animals. If it were up to me, I think it’d own a zoo by this point but my parents
would never allow that. That’s probably a good thing…
5.
This last one isn’t so much a resolution but
something to lift my spirits. It’s also a great arts and crafts activity! I want
to find a mason jar or a shoebox or something that can hold things and then
decorate it. And then, throughout all of 2014, whenever something good happens
to me, I’m going to write it down on a slip of paper and then put it in the
mason jar/shoebox/whatever I decide to pick. I think it’s a good way to
remember the good times. People focus too much on the negative and have a
tendency to have a better memory for the negative. It’s time to start having a
memory for the positive.
If you’re reading this, and you like my resolutions, feel
free to steal them. Also, don’t be afraid to comment what your resolutions are.
I’d love to hear from you guys!
